Flamingo Funders cofounder Jane Cooper recently had the chance to reflect on our mission and progress on the podcast “It’s New Orleans: Out to Lunch”.
Host Peter Ricchiuti opened the conversation with a sobering statistic: while women make up nearly half of the U.S. population and own 42% of businesses, only 20–25% of entrepreneurs are women. Even more startling, women-led startups receive just 2% of all venture capital funding. These numbers are exactly why we created Flamingo Funders.
As an angel investor and as an entrepreneur in her own right, Jane reflects on the unique challenges of early stage investing and explains why we’re laser-focused on increasing access to capital for women entrepreneurs.
In conversation with Tiffany Langlinais of Freret Napoleon, she elaborates on what it means to build a community where women entrepreneurs don’t just survive—they thrive.
